The Lesser Of Two Evils – Jelly vs. Marshmallow Fluff

My interest in food and being healthy often leads me to find the best ways to cheat. Lately, this has manifested itself in researching baking substitutions and how to make high protein desserts. I came across a fact that read that marshmallow fluff is lower in sugar and calories than frosting for cakes. It made me wonder, if I want to make peanut butter and jelly… would it be healthier to replace the jelly with marshmallow fluff?

I decided to put my question up to the ultimate test. I looked up the nutrition information for each using the USDA’s nutrient database. Here is what I found:

Jelly
Marshmallow Fluff

In conclusion, one tablespoon of marshmallow fluff is about half the carbohydrates and more than half the sugar of jelly. Looking to cut back on sugar? Try peanut butter and marshmallow fluff instead of peanut butter and jelly.
