Po’ Boys For Mardi Gras (And Other Fried Treats on the Deep Fryer)
For
Mardi Gras this year, my friends Mary Ann and Michelle hosted a Mardi Gras
party in their apartment featuring a deep fryer. Although deep fried is not
exactly “nutritious”, it can be part of a “balanced” diet when consumed in
moderation. Here are some pictures of our antics!

Po’ Boy Sandwich
A Po’ Boy is a traditional sandwich
from New Orleans, Louisiana. It features fried seafood (often shrimp) in a
crisp loaf of bread (often French bread). A Po’ Boy can be served with lettuce,
tomato, mayonnaise and hot sauce. Ours were made with fried tilapia and were
delicious! – Courtesy of Michelle Pakonis.

Fried Pickles
Sweet Treats:

Fried Cookie Dough
The deep fried cookie dough was an
unusual invention. We rolled cookie dough into balls and dipped them into
batter made of white cornmeal and then dropped these in the deep fryer. They
made a great sweet treat.
Warning:
all of these foods are pretty heavy. One could easily consume too much!
Happy
Fat Tuesday!
